Lymphovascular space invasion (LVSI) refers to the presence of tumor cells within the lumina of lymphatic vessels or blood vessels surrounding the primary tumor. This pathologic finding is an important prognostic factor in gynecologic malignancies, particularly endometrial and cervical cancers, as it indicates an increased risk of metastatic spread to lymph nodes and distant sites. LVSI is typically identified on histopathologic examination of surgical specimens and influences staging, treatment decisions, and prognosis.
