Full Definition
Omental caking refers to the characteristic radiological and gross pathological appearance of the omentum when infiltrated by malignant cells, particularly in ovarian cancer. The normally thin, translucent omental tissue becomes thickened, nodular, and cake-like in consistency due to tumor deposits. This finding is commonly seen on CT imaging and during surgical exploration in patients with advanced gynecologic malignancies.
