The Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG) was a cooperative clinical trials organization that conducted landmark research in gynecologic cancers from 1970 to 2014. The group established many of the standard treatment protocols, staging criteria, and surgical techniques still used today in gynecologic oncology. GOG protocols are frequently referenced in medical literature and clinical guidelines. The organization was succeeded by NRG Oncology, which continues similar research initiatives. Many surgical procedures and treatment algorithms are still referred to by their original GOG protocol numbers.
