The Pelvic Organ Prolapse Quantification system is the gold standard clinical tool for objectively describing and staging pelvic organ prolapse. Developed by the International Continence Society, POP-Q uses nine specific measurements taken during pelvic examination with the patient performing Valsalva maneuver. The system measures six points along the vaginal walls (Aa, Ba, C, D, Ap, Bp) plus the genital hiatus, perineal body, and total vaginal length. Results are staged from 0 (no prolapse) to IV (complete vaginal eversion), providing reproducible documentation for clinical care and research.
