The tenodesis effect describes the natural passive movement of fingers that occurs when the wrist is flexed or extended, caused by the fixed length of extrinsic flexor and extensor tendons crossing multiple joints. When the wrist extends, fingers naturally flex as the flexor tendons become relatively shorter. Conversely, wrist flexion causes finger extension as extensor tendons become relatively tighter.
