The testosterone-to-epitestosterone ratio (T/E ratio) is a calculated parameter that compares endogenous testosterone to epitestosterone, an inactive stereoisomer of testosterone. Under normal physiological conditions, this ratio is typically 1:1 to 2:1. Ratios significantly above 4:1 may indicate exogenous testosterone administration, making this test valuable in sports medicine and anti-doping programs. The T/E ratio can be affected by genetic variants in testosterone metabolism, certain medical conditions, and some medications, requiring careful interpretation in clinical contexts.
