Implant prosthetic space (also referred to as restorative space or crown height space) is the distance measured from the implant shoulder or abutment level to the occlusal plane of the opposing dentition. Adequate prosthetic space is critical for the selection of the appropriate abutment height, restorative material, and connection type. Insufficient space may necessitate additional bone reduction or custom abutments, while excessive space can compromise the biomechanical integrity of the restoration.
