Performance Status is a standardized measure used to assess a cancer patient's functional capacity and ability to perform daily activities. The most commonly used scales are the ECOG (Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group) and Karnofsky scales. These assessments help clinicians determine treatment eligibility, predict prognosis, and monitor treatment effects. Performance status is a critical factor in treatment decision-making, as patients with poor performance status may not tolerate aggressive therapies and may require modified treatment approaches.
