Full Definition

A classification describing infants whose birth weight falls within the normal range (10th-90th percentile) when plotted against standardized growth charts for their gestational age. This term is used in contrast to small for gestational age (SGA) or large for gestational age (LGA). The classification helps clinicians assess whether intrauterine growth was appropriate and guides management decisions.
