Goldmann perimetry is a manual visual field testing technique that uses kinetic (moving) stimuli to map the boundaries of visual perception. The test is performed on a bowl-shaped perimeter where targets of varying size and brightness are moved from the periphery toward the center until the patient reports seeing them. This kinetic approach allows for detailed mapping of visual field boundaries and is particularly valuable for detecting and monitoring visual field defects in neurological conditions. Goldmann perimetry provides isopter maps that show areas of equal visual sensitivity and is considered the gold standard for certain types of visual field assessment.
