Gyriform enhancement refers to a pattern of contrast enhancement that follows the serpentine contours of cerebral gyri, typically involving the cortical ribbon. This enhancement pattern can be seen in various conditions including acute stroke with luxury perfusion, cortical venous infarction, encephalitis, seizure-related changes, or posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES). The enhancement may be unilateral or bilateral and often correlates with areas of cortical dysfunction or blood-brain barrier breakdown.
