The algorithm projects the maximum pixel intensity encountered along each ray path through the volume, effectively creating a 2D representation that highlights high-intensity structures like contrast-enhanced blood vessels while suppressing background tissues. MIP reconstructions are essential for evaluating vascular anatomy, detecting aneurysms, stenoses, and other vascular abnormalities.
