Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is an advanced MRI technique that measures the diffusion of water molecules along white matter fiber tracts in the brain. This method provides detailed maps of neural pathways and is particularly valuable for assessing white matter integrity in conditions such as multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury, and neurodegenerative diseases. DTI data is often presented using color-coded fractional anisotropy maps.
