Parallel imaging is an MRI acceleration technique that exploits spatial sensitivity differences among multiple receiver coil elements to reconstruct images from undersampled k-space data. This approach significantly reduces acquisition time while preserving diagnostic image quality, though at the cost of reduced signal-to-noise ratio. Common parallel imaging methods include SENSE and GRAPPA, with acceleration factors typically ranging from 2 to 4 in clinical neuroimaging applications.
