Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) suppression is an MRI technique that selectively reduces signal intensity from CSF while preserving signal from brain parenchyma. This is typically achieved through fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) sequences or other specialized pulse sequences. CSF suppression enhances the conspicuity of periventricular lesions, cortical abnormalities, and other pathology that might otherwise be obscured by the bright CSF signal in conventional T2-weighted images.
