FreeSurfer is a widely-used computational tool in neuroinformatics for automated processing and analysis of structural brain MRI data. The software performs cortical surface reconstruction, subcortical segmentation, and calculation of morphometric measures such as cortical thickness, surface area, and volume. FreeSurfer's standardized processing pipeline enables reproducible cross-sectional and longitudinal studies.
