Nerve conduction studies (NCS) are electrophysiological tests that measure the speed and strength of electrical signal transmission along peripheral nerves. The procedure involves stimulating nerves with electrical impulses and recording responses from muscles or sensory nerves. NCS results help distinguish between axonal and demyelinating neuropathies and localize nerve lesions.
