The Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) is a widely used psychometric instrument consisting of 21 multiple-choice questions that assess the presence and severity of depressive symptoms. Developed by Aaron Beck, it evaluates cognitive, affective, and somatic symptoms of depression over the past two weeks. The BDI-II is the current revised version, with scores ranging from 0-63, where higher scores indicate more severe depression.
