These assays are commonly used for enzyme activity measurements, such as GALT activity for galactosemia screening, and for detecting specific metabolites. The method offers high sensitivity and specificity, making it suitable for detecting low concentrations of target compounds in small blood volumes. Results are typically expressed as fluorescence units or enzyme activity rates.
