Diagnostic testing conducted in clinical settings such as hospitals, clinics, or birthing centers using portable or bedside equipment. In newborn screening, point-of-care testing may be used for time-sensitive conditions requiring immediate results or in settings where traditional laboratory testing is not readily available. These tests provide rapid results but may have different performance characteristics than laboratory-based methods.
