Contrast kinetics refers to the temporal pattern of contrast agent uptake, distribution, and clearance in tissues during dynamic imaging studies. This analysis involves multiple image acquisitions at specific time intervals after contrast injection to characterize enhancement patterns. In oncologic imaging, contrast kinetics provide valuable information about tumor vascularity, vascular permeability, and tissue composition. Different kinetic patterns (rapid enhancement with washout, progressive enhancement, plateau patterns) can help differentiate malignant from benign lesions and assess treatment response. Quantitative kinetic analysis may involve parametric mapping and pharmacokinetic modeling.
