The Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System (LI-RADS) is a comprehensive standardized method for interpreting and reporting liver imaging in patients at risk for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). LI-RADS assigns probability categories (LR-1 through LR-5, plus LR-M for probably malignant but not HCC-specific) based on specific imaging features including arterial phase hyperenhancement, washout appearance, and capsule formation. The system aims to reduce variability in liver imaging interpretation, improve communication between radiologists and clinicians, and facilitate clinical decision-making regarding HCC diagnosis and management.
