Full Definition

Stereotactic Ablative Body Radiotherapy (SABR) is an advanced external beam radiation technique that delivers very high doses of radiation with extreme precision to small, well-defined tumors outside the brain and spine. The technique uses sophisticated imaging guidance and beam shaping to ablate tumors while minimizing dose to surrounding healthy tissues. SABR typically involves 1-5 treatment fractions and is particularly effective for early-stage lung cancers and oligometastatic disease. The high biological effective dose achieved can result in local control rates exceeding 90% for appropriately selected lesions.
