A virtual setup (also termed digital setup or digital treatment plan) is a computer-generated model showing the predicted final positions of the teeth following a proposed course of orthodontic treatment. It is produced from digital impressions or intraoral scans and is used for both fixed and aligner-based therapies. Unlike the brand-specific ClinCheck, 'virtual setup' is the generic, non-proprietary term suitable for use across all systems and is preferred in academic writing. Editors should use this form when the specific aligner brand is not identified, and should not hyphenate 'virtual setup'.
