Clear cell chondrosarcoma is a rare subtype of chondrosarcoma accounting for less than 2% of all chondrosarcomas. It is characterized by the presence of large cells with clear, glycogen-rich cytoplasm and typically arises in the epiphyseal or apophyseal regions of long bones, particularly around the proximal femur and humerus. Unlike conventional chondrosarcoma, clear cell chondrosarcoma tends to occur in younger patients (20-40 years) and has a predilection for epiphyseal locations. The tumor is generally low-grade but can metastasize if inadequately treated.
