Pronunciation: REH-sist
Also written as: RECIST — Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors
Standardized guidelines for evaluating tumor response to treatment using imaging measurements.
Full Definition
Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST) are internationally accepted guidelines for assessing tumor response to treatment in clinical trials and practice. RECIST criteria classify response as complete response (CR), partial response (PR), progressive disease (PD), or stable disease (SD) based on changes in tumor measurements on imaging studies. In orthopedic oncology, RECIST criteria are commonly used to evaluate response to systemic therapy, particularly in metastatic disease or when assessing neoadjuvant treatment effects before surgery.
