Neuromuscular control refers to the unconscious activation of dynamic restraints around a joint in preparation for and in response to joint motion and loading. This complex process involves the integration of sensory input from mechanoreceptors, processing by the central nervous system, and coordinated muscle responses to maintain joint stability and prevent injury. Deficits in neuromuscular control are associated with increased injury risk, particularly for ACL injuries. Training programs focusing on neuromuscular control have become central to injury prevention strategies in sports medicine.
