Glenohumeral instability refers to excessive translation or abnormal positioning of the humeral head relative to the glenoid fossa. This condition can manifest as frank dislocation, subluxation, or symptomatic laxity that impairs shoulder function. Instability patterns are classified by direction (anterior, posterior, inferior, or multidirectional) and may be traumatic or atraumatic in origin. Treatment approaches vary from conservative rehabilitation to surgical stabilization procedures.
