VADs can provide left ventricular support (LVAD), right ventricular support (RVAD), or biventricular support (BiVAD). In pediatric critical care, VADs require specialized nursing care, anticoagulation management, and monitoring for complications including bleeding, thrombosis, and device malfunction.
