Congenital membrane partially obstructing the duodenal lumen.
Full Definition
A congenital anomaly consisting of a thin membranous structure that partially or completely obstructs the duodenal lumen, typically occurring in the second portion of the duodenum near the ampulla of Vater. Unlike complete duodenal atresia, a duodenal web may allow some luminal continuity, leading to delayed presentation with symptoms such as bilious vomiting, feeding intolerance, and failure to thrive. Treatment involves surgical excision of the web, often through duodenotomy.
