Common techniques include the Politano-Leadbetter, Cohen cross-trigonal, and Lich-Gregoir approaches, which can be performed via open, laparoscopic, or robot-assisted methods. The surgery is typically indicated when medical management fails, breakthrough urinary tract infections occur, or new renal scarring develops. Success rates exceed 95% for stopping reflux, with low morbidity when performed by experienced pediatric urologists.
