V-pattern strabismus is a type of vertical incomitance where the horizontal deviation increases when the eyes look upward and decreases when looking downward. This creates a characteristic V-shaped pattern when plotting eye alignment across different gaze positions. The condition is often associated with overaction of the inferior oblique muscles or underaction of the superior oblique muscles. It requires specialized measurement techniques and may need surgical correction involving oblique muscle procedures.
