Therapeutic Exercise

Skilled physical therapy intervention designed to improve strength, endurance, mobility, or function.

Full Definition

Therapeutic Exercise encompasses planned, progressive physical activities designed to restore or improve strength, endurance, flexibility, balance, coordination, or functional performance. Unlike general exercise, therapeutic exercise requires skilled intervention from a licensed physical therapist who monitors patient response, modifies programs, and progresses activities based on clinical judgment. Common types include strengthening exercises, range of motion activities, balance training, and functional movement patterns. Documentation must justify the need for skilled intervention.

Usage

Usage note: Must demonstrate skilled intervention requirement in documentation.
