Lateral displacement occurs when a breast implant shifts outward toward the axilla (armpit), creating asymmetry and an unnatural breast contour. This complication can result from inadequate surgical technique, oversized implant pockets, or poor tissue support. The displaced implant creates excessive cleavage spacing and may cause the breast to appear flattened centrally. Correction typically requires surgical revision to tighten the lateral pocket and reposition the implant medially.
