Subglandular placement refers to the surgical positioning of breast implants in the space between the pectoralis major muscle and the mammary gland tissue. This technique, also known as prepectoral placement, offers advantages including less post-operative pain, preservation of muscle function, and potentially more natural breast movement. However, it may be associated with higher rates of capsular contracture and visible implant edges in patients with thin breast tissue compared to submuscular placement.
