SCORE2
European cardiovascular risk prediction algorithm that estimates 10-year risk of fatal and non-fatal cardiovascular events.
Full Definition
SCORE2 is the updated European cardiovascular risk assessment system developed by the European Society of Cardiology and European Atherosclerosis Society. Unlike the original SCORE system that predicted only cardiovascular mortality, SCORE2 estimates the 10-year risk of fatal and non-fatal myocardial infarction, stroke, and other major cardiovascular events. The algorithm provides separate risk charts for four European risk regions and includes age-specific risk categories. SCORE2 is calibrated for different European populations and incorporates contemporary epidemiological data, making it more relevant for current clinical practice than its predecessor. The system also includes SCORE2-OP for patients aged 70 years and older.
Usage
Usage note: Always use numerical '2' not spelled out 'two'; distinguish from original SCORE system.
