Dynamic alignment follows static alignment and involves observing the patient's gait in multiple planes while making incremental positional changes to foot, ankle, or knee components. Changes may include altering the anterior–posterior or mediolateral position of the foot, adjusting socket flexion, or modifying heel height. Findings and adjustments are recorded in fitting notes and must be accurately documented to support insurance claims for additional visits. Editors should distinguish 'dynamic alignment' from 'bench alignment' (off-patient) and 'static alignment' (standing, pre-ambulation) when reviewing clinical records.
