The National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) is the primary source of statistical information on substance use and mental health among the US civilian, noninstitutionalized population aged 12 years and older. Conducted annually by SAMHSA, NSDUH provides prevalence estimates for substance use disorders, mental illness, and co-occurring disorders. The survey employs a complex sampling design and computer-assisted interviewing to ensure representative national and state-level estimates for policy development and resource allocation.
