Cohen's d

A statistical measure of effect size commonly used in psychiatric research to quantify the magnitude of treatment differences between groups.

Cohen's d is a standardized measure of effect size that quantifies the difference between two group means in terms of standard deviation units. In psychiatric research, Cohen's d is frequently used to assess the clinical significance of treatment effects, with values of 0.2, 0.5, and 0.8 conventionally interpreted as small, medium, and large effects respectively. This metric allows researchers to compare treatment effects across different studies and outcome measures.
