The analytic process refers to the unfolding therapeutic relationship and intrapsychic developments that occur during psychoanalysis. This includes the development of transference and countertransference, the working through of conflicts, the deepening of insight, and structural personality changes. The process is characterized by regression in service of the ego, repetition and working through of patterns, and gradual internalization of analytic functions.
