Thermoluminescent Dosimeters (TLDs) are small, passive radiation detection devices containing crystalline materials that store radiation energy in excited electron states. In radiation oncology, TLDs are used for various dosimetric applications including personal radiation monitoring for staff, in-vivo dosimetry to verify actual patient doses during treatment, and environmental radiation monitoring around treatment facilities.
