Seating simulation is the process of using an adjustable modular seating system or simulator chair to trial different seat angles, dimensions, and postural support combinations prior to finalising a wheelchair prescription. This step is considered best practice in complex rehabilitation seating, as it allows clinicians to observe the patient's postural response and pressure distribution before committing to a custom or costly device. In documents, editors may encounter 'mat simulation' or 'clinical simulation' as synonymous terms in some jurisdictions. 'Seating simulation' should not be confused with 'seating assessment', which refers to the broader evaluation process of which simulation may form one part.
