FET (Frozen Embryo Transfer) involves the thawing and transfer of embryos that were previously cryopreserved, either from a prior IVF cycle or as part of a freeze-all strategy. The procedure requires careful endometrial preparation through either natural cycles with ovulation monitoring or medicated cycles using estrogen and progesterone supplementation. FET cycles often have advantages including better endometrial receptivity, reduced OHSS risk, and the ability to perform preimplantation genetic testing. Success rates with FET are now comparable to or better than fresh transfers in many patient populations.
