This timing allows for better embryo selection as only the most viable embryos typically reach blastocyst stage. Day 5 transfers generally result in higher implantation rates compared to day 3 transfers, though fewer embryos may be available for transfer.

Usage note: Always specify 'day 5' rather than using 'blastocyst transfer' alone, as blastocysts can theoretically be transferred on day 6 as well.
