An advanced embryology technique that uses integrated microscopy and incubation systems to continuously monitor embryo development through automated image capture at regular intervals. This technology allows embryologists to assess embryo morphokinetics—the timing of developmental milestones—without disturbing the culture environment. Time-lapse systems can track events such as first cleavage, compaction, and blastocyst formation, providing additional parameters for embryo selection. Some systems incorporate artificial intelligence algorithms to assist in embryo grading and selection. While the technology provides valuable developmental information, its impact on clinical outcomes compared to conventional morphological assessment remains under investigation.
