Full Definition

IOT follows the Launch and Early Orbit Phase and involves systematic testing of all satellite payload functions—transponder gain, frequency response, EIRP, saturation flux density, and beam coverage—from the ground. Results are documented in an IOT report, which is often a contractual deliverable to the satellite operator or customer. Editors must note that in this industry context 'IOT' means In-Orbit Testing, not 'Internet of Things', and should flag the acronym if used in a mixed-technology document. IOT reports require careful editorial attention to unit consistency and tabular formatting.
