Dural ectasia involves pathological dilatation of the dural sac that extends beyond the normal confines of the spinal canal, often presenting as enlarged neural foramina, scalloping of vertebral bodies, or expansion of the spinal canal diameter. This condition can be associated with connective tissue disorders such as Marfan syndrome, neurofibromatosis, or can occur as an isolated finding. Dural ectasia may cause back pain, neurological symptoms, or complicate surgical procedures due to altered anatomy and increased risk of cerebrospinal fluid leakage.
