In sports cardiology, ectopy burden helps stratify risk for exercise-related arrhythmic events and guides decisions regarding athletic participation. Generally, burdens exceeding 10-20% warrant detailed evaluation for underlying structural heart disease. The assessment includes analysis of ectopy morphology, complexity, and relationship to exercise, as suppression of PVCs during exercise may indicate benign etiology.
