Effective channel irrigation requires proper connector fittings, adequate pressure, appropriate dwell time, and thorough rinsing to prevent detergent residue. The technique is particularly critical for instruments with narrow internal diameters where manual cleaning is impossible and where inadequate cleaning could lead to biofilm formation or sterilization failure.
