In thoracic oncology, molecular profiling has become essential for identifying actionable mutations such as EGFR, ALK, ROS1, BRAF, and other genetic alterations that can be targeted with specific therapies. This testing typically includes next-generation sequencing (NGS) panels that analyze multiple genes simultaneously. Results guide treatment selection, particularly for advanced non-small cell lung cancer where targeted therapies have significantly improved outcomes.
